Sharing Sunday: the dying side of living

The cross.

Our pastor reminded us Sunday of the cross carried by Christ.

We are told to carry our crosses.

Then He [Jesus] said to them all,

“If anyone desires to come after Me,

let him deny himself,

and take up his cross daily,

and follow Me.”

(Luke 9:23)

The cross.

A splintered beam of death.

Not simply a burden or hardship.

Taking up the cross.  Daily.

A willingness to accept death.

Death of self.

All rights to me surrendered.

Giving up carnal pursuits and passions.

And receiving what was purchased by the Blood of the Lamb.

It is finished.

  1. I love this. What a great reminder. I was struck by the deny yourselves daily…everyday. Sometimes I feel like it must be just me that can’t seem to let things go or rise above my flesh. But if Christ pointed it out – maybe I’m not the only one!
